Game #1 – Carroll’s vs. Altek
This game will end up being very one sided as Carroll’s will come out cold and stay cold throughout the entire game. Back to back singles in the third from Kelly Gallagher and Steve DiGiovanni along with an error help to score the only run for Carroll’s as they will only push one run in today. The opposite can be said for Altek as they will cruise to a mercy win victory after netting 16 runs across 5 and 1/3 innings. Kyle Smith would go 4/4 with three singles and a big three runs bomb, while Brian Dart also muscle ups a bomb to go 3/4 with three RBI’s. Brandon Smith will get one fewer ab in the game as the two above, but ends up with three doubles as Altek will cruise to a victory. Altek wins 16-1.
Player of the Game:
Kyle Smith (Altek) – 4/4, HR, 5 RBI’s
Game #2 – Quality vs. Phanatics Batmen
Batmen do their best superhero impression and come out flying to a 13-0 lead in the first three innings. Nick Pataki brings in runs on a double and single, while Sean O’Connor brings in two runs on two singles. Paul O’Connor, Dave Porco and a bunch of errors help round out the inning as Batmen look to be in full control. Quality will get on the board for the first time in the fourth inning, bringing in two runs on back to back singles from TJ Ebersole and Alec Hoxsey. But Batmen quickly negate that as they push across three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Scott Gerhart provides the scoring with a three run bomb. Quality will get two more runs in the fifth, but Batmen have put up too much early in this game and will walk away with a win. Batmen win 16-4.
Player of the Game:
Scott Gerhart (Phanatic’s Batmen) – 1/3, HR, 3 RBI’s
Game #3 – The Runs vs. GFP
GFP, who knows what that means?, gets us rolling with four runs in the first inning. Bill Brancato will get the scoring started with an RBI walk, followed by a Lissa Freeman sac fly to net them some runs. Defense will rule the second inning before Runs get on the board for the first time in this one on a hit and error. Freeman will respond with a run back in the bottom of the inning to hold a four run lead. The fourth is where GFP starts to pull away. Chase Luxton and Phil Lipton both take big swings and smash two runs bombs to bring the lead up more, and in the sixth they have an even bigger inning. This time they score six in total thanks in part to a Eric Schade RBI single and Dan Vescovi RBI double. GFP will hold it down defensively, somehow holding on even thought nonny made 10 errors and will close this one out. GFP wins 16-6.
Player of the Game:
Chase Luxton (GFP) – 1/3, BB, HR, 2 RBI’s
Game #4 – The Maize vs. Sillies
The final game of the night gets rolling and will be the game of the night as we will go back and forth. Both teams will grab a run in the first inning before Sillies smashes eight runs in the bottom of the second inning. Max Chirkin, Josh Owens and Laura Albertson all have RBI singles before Mike Liddy delivers the big shot with a grand salami. George Slawter will finish the scoring in the inning with a sac fly. Maize will slowly, but surely fight back over the next three innings, scoring in each inning. Michelle Egitto, Bob Garges and Austin Grasso all had RBI singles across the innings and Gary Kleinschmidt added a sac fly. Maize will take the lead in the sixth as they push another five runs across. Tom Egitto and Matt Bagenhagen go back to back to score 3 runs on doubles and then Kleinschmidt will add a run on a single. Maize will put this game to bed getting another four runs in the seventh. Trey Klauder and Tom Egitto both have RBI singles, as they will win this one 16-13.
Player of the Game:
Tom Egitto (Maize) – 5/5, 3 2B’s, RBI
Player of the Week:
Kyle Smith (Altek) – 4/4, HR, 5 RBI’s
Sorry for the lateness on the writeups. Work has been hectic, but I will get everything caught up in the next few days.
