Sunday Men's Woodbat - Stover (09/14/2025)

Post by BigDaddyB »

Game 1: Morning Wood 22 VS. City Lights 2
Recap: Welcome to Sunday Men's Slowpitch! The first game of the season was, unfortunately, a bit lob-sided, as City Lights was only able to field 8 players giving them an auto-out in the 9-hole. Jim Liott started off the game for City Lights with a lead-off single, eventually scoring their 1st of 2 runs before Morning Wood recorded the 3rd out of the 1st. Bats went quiet for City Lights the remainder of the game. Morning Wood, on the other hand definitely had some blood flowing to their 13 inch barrels as they got hot and stayed hot. Tim Frie hit a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 2nd to put them ahead 10-1. One thing lead to another and this onslaught ended in the 4th inning with a final score of 22-2 - Morning Wood.
Team Leaders:
Morning Wood: Tim Frei - 3/4 (2 Singles, 1 HR - 5 RBI's)
City Lights: Jim Liott - 1/2 (1 Single, 1 RBI)

Game 2: Goonies 6 VS. Crankin' Hogs 4
Recap: This game was a nail-biter as it went the distance, boasting a final score of 6-4 with Goonies (great movie) taking the dub. Each team went 1-2-3 to start the game in the first. Crankin' hogs was the first to strike in the 4th inning with back-to-back-to-back doubles to start a great 0-out rally. Nick Dwyer lead the inning off and was the first to score with an RBI double by Ken Thompson. This was the spark they needed as they were able to produce 4 runs with no outs. This was the last time they saw the run column finishing the game with 4 runs. The Goonies punched back in the same inning starting the inning with a leadoff walk, followed by an out and a 3-base error. They scored 3 that inning. Goonies went on to score 2 more in the 5th on 2 singles by Kris Cassel & Sean McHala, walk by Bob Scott and a homer from Josh Gra. They scored 1 more in the 6th and came back out with a 1-2-3 inning to send Crankin' Hogs Packin'. Good battle, y'all.
Team Leaders:
Crankin' Hogs: Tom Trainor - 2/2 (2 Singles & 1 Walk - 0 RBI's)
Goonies: Bob Scott - 1/2 (1 Single, 3 Base Error, 1 Walk - 1 RBI)
