Game #1 – Wehrung’s vs. The Runs

The Runs will kick this game off with three runs to get on the board first. Erik Cusano will bring in a run on an RBI single followed up later in the inning by a Nick Perricone RBI single. Neither team will score in the second inning, which then sends us to the third when Wehrung’s will finally get on the board. They score two runs off a couple hits and then an error as well as a fielder’s choice from Doug Moninghoff. Wehrung’s will stay hot and take a lead in the fourth getting three runs on a Adam Hendricks RBI single and two run single from Jill Moninghoff. Daniel Muth and Lowell Snyder will net two more runs for Wehrung’s in the fifth as they lead 7-3. Erik Cusano tries to fight back in this one for Runs, smashing a three run bomb, but that is the last runs they would be able to put up in this one. Wehrung’s will hold on in this defensive showdown and win 8-6.

Player of the Game:
Daniel Muth (Wehrung’s) – 2/3, BB, 2B, RBI

Game #2 – The Maize vs. Wehrung’s

Our second game of the night gets rolling with three runs from Muckdogs. Ryan Hamilton starts with an RBI double followed by RBI singles from Chelsea Detweiler and Jeff Hess. Carroll’s will answer back in the bottom of the inning with four runs of their own. Greg Lesher will knock in a run on a single and Bill Shipe smashes a three run bomb deep into the woods. Muckdogs don’t like that response and grab three more runs in the second. Tony Cabot smashes a three run bomb in the inning. Carroll’s grab the lead again in the third. Shipe was back at it with two runs on a double, while Bryan Bart knocks in a run on a single. Muckdogs again, as we go back and forth, will take the lead again in the fourth as they push across six runs. Bill Hamill and Antonio Almeda both knock in two runs on doubles, while Bill Stone brings in a run on a single. Muckdogs will grab another run in the fifth on an RBI single as they still hold a one run lead. They will add some insurance runs on a grand salami homer deep into the woods and hold this game late. Muckdogs win 18-12.
