Game 1: Pitch Please vs Pitches Be Trippin

Pitches Be Trippin struggled on offense out of the gate and could not put any runs on the board in the first two innings. Pitch Please used this and took a nice lead scoring 7 runs in the first two innings on an RBI single by Jon Beard, RBI doubles by Joe Kindt and Jeff McHanen, and a three-run homer by Kindt to make the score 7-0 after the 2nd. Pitches Be Trippin clawed their way back into the game in the top of the 3rd scoring four runs on two home runs by Paul Abendroth and Anthony Perritti. Pitch Please answered with a run of their own on a homerun by Dan Altemus to give Pitch Please an 8-4 lead after three. Pitches Be Trippin’s offense went cold again in the top of the 4th and could not score any runs. Pitch Please added on in the bottom of the 4th scoring four runs on an RBI single by Kindt, RBI fielder’s choice by Adam Schlang and a two-run homer by McMahen to open the lead up 12-4 after the 4th. In the top of the 5th, Pitches Be Trippin got three runs back on RBI singles by Abendroth and CJ McCaffery and an RBI fielder’s choice by Kevin Launiar to make the score 12-7 Pitch Please after the 5th. Pitches Be Trippin inched closer in the top of the 6th scoring two runs on an RBI double by Perritti to pull within three runs going into the 7th. In the top of the 7th, Pitches Be Trippin got a couple runners on to try and start the comeback, but Pitch Please’s defense came up big and ended the threat as well as the game. Pitches Be Trippin’s late comeback falls short as they lose to Pitch Please 12-9.

Game 3: Wire 2 Wire vs Doc’s

Doc’s took the lead early in the top of the 1st scoring four runs including an RBI double by Clay Snyder and singles by Joe Stankovics, Dylan Brooks and Matt Fronheiser. Wire 2 Wire went down in order after a lead off single by Derrick Acker as Doc’s held an early lead 4-0 after the 1st. Dylan Brooks added on for Doc’s in the top of the 2nd with a two-run homer. Wire 2 Wire was able to scratch one run across in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI single by Gene Walczak as Doc’s lead 6-1 after the 2nd. Doc’s offense would slow down in the top of the 3rd and 4th as they could not push any runs across. This was the spark Wire 2 Wire needed as they were able to score seven runs their next two at bats on two RBI singles by Jacob McDevitt, two-run homer by Tom Signore, two-run homer by Ben Vitelli and an RBI sac fly by Signore to give Wire 2 Wire an 8-6 lead after the 4th. Doc’s would tie the game in the top of the 5th scoring two runs off RBI singles by Joe Giampietro and Austin Kooker. Wire 2 Wire would take the lead right back in the bottom of the 5th scoring five runs off a three-run homer by Acker and a two-run RBI single by Matt Godfrey to go up 13-8 after the 5th. Doc’s would not give up and scored two runs in the top of the 6th on homeruns by Brooks and Chris Jones to pull within three runs. Wire 2 Wire added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th on another RBI single by Walczak to give Wire 2 Wire a 14-10 lead heading into the 7th. Doc’s needing four runs or more to keep the game going made some noise in the top of the 7th scoring two runs on RBI doubles by AJ Bagushinski and Brooks, but the comeback fell short as Wire 2 Wire was able to shut down the rest of the inning. Wire 2 Wire wins a close one over Doc’s 14-12.

Game 4: Doc’s vs Swingers

Doc’s and Swingers put on an offensive clinic in game 4 as the combined total was over 40 runs. Swingers got things started off in the top of the 1st scoring two runs with singles by Matt Close, Brian Close, Ben Rizzi and a double by Dale Hoover to take an early lead. Doc’s would answer with four runs on RBI doubles by Dylan Brooks and Chris Jones and an RBI single by AJ Bagushinski to take a 4-2 lead after the 1st. In the top of the 2nd, Swingers would bat around, scoring ten runs on homers by Matt Close and Rezzi, RBI triple by Brian Close and an RBI single by Nick McClay. Doc’s fought back in the bottom of the 2nd scoring three runs on a two-run homer by Brooks and an RBI triple by Bagushinski to keep the score close 12-7 Swingers after the 2nd. Swingers went down in order in the top of the 3rd scoring no runs. Doc’s would then score five runs off their own in the bottom of the 3rd on RBI singles by Joe Stankovics, Jones, Matt Fronheiser and Bagushinski to tie the game 12-12 after the 3rd. Swingers would retake the lead in the top of the 4th scoring four runs on a three-run homer by Matt Close and an RBI double by Lucas Burke. Doc’s kept it up on offense scoring three runs in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI double by Bagushinski, an RBI sac fly by Brooks and an RBI single by Paul Elliot to pull within one 16-15 Swingers after the fourth. Swingers added another run in the top of 5th off an error while Doc’s was not able to push anything across leaving the score 17-15 Swingers entering the 6th. In the top of the 6th Swingers’ offense kept their foot on the gas pedal scoring four runs on RBI singles by Matt Close and Dale Hoover and an RBI sac fly by Brian Close to give them a 21-15 lead after six. In the top of the 7th, Swingers would put the game out of reach as they scored seven runs off RBI singles by Hoover and Dion Greene, RBI double by Matt Close and an RBI sac fly by Dave Pohle to put them up big 28-15 heading into Doc’s last at bats. Doc’s would score three runs in the bottom of the 7th off two homers by Austin Kooker and Brooks, but it would not be enough to match the Swingers high scoring offense. Swingers takes this game over Doc’s 28-18.

Game 5: One Hit Wonders vs Dark Horse

One Hit Wonders defeats Dark Horse 17-2.
