Game 1: Pitch Please vs Doc’s

Doc’s was able to get on the board in top of the 1st, scoring one run off an RBI single by Paul Elliot. Pitch Please answered with a run of their own on an RBI single by Pete Donnelly to knot the score at one after the 1st. Both teams put up a goose egg in the 2nd as we remained tied at one. Doc’s had a big inning in the top of the 3rd scoring 5 runs on a two-run homer by Dylan Brooks, and RBI singles by Joe Giampietro and Jack Stepnowski to take the lead. Pitch Please’s Pete Donnelly would deliver another RBI single in the bottom of 3rd to bring the score to 5-2 Doc’s after the 3rd. Doc’s opened the game up in the top of 4th scoring seven runs on RBI doubles by Brooks and Austin Kooker, RBI singles by Brooks and Josh Keszczyk and an RBI triple by Giampietro to bring their run total to 13. Pitch Please would struggle their next two at bats and did not score in the bottom of the 4th or 5th which left the score at 13-2 after the 5th. In the 6th inning Brett Keszczyk hit an RBI single to extend the lead for Doc’s. Pitch Please would win the inning scoring two runs off a homer by Kyle Lowery and an RBI single by Dan Altemus to leave the score at 14-4 heading into the final inning. Doc’s would put the game out of reach in the top of the 7th scoring two more runs off an RBI single by Giampietro and an RBI sac fly by Stepnowski. Pitch Please would go down in order in the bottom of the 7th. Doc’s takes down Pitch Please 16-4.

Game 2: Pitches Be Trippin vs Dark Horse

Dark Horse had their bats going early in the top of the 1st, scoring two runs off an RBI sac by Nick Mariana and Ryan Schock. Pitches Be Trippin tied the game in the bottom of the 1st after an RBI sac fly by Ant Perritti. Dark Horse would score another two runs in the top of the 2nd on an RBI single by Bill Jones and an RBI sac fly by Jason Hudacheck. Pitches Be Trippin would get one run back in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI single by Matt Horn to give Dark Horse a 4-3 lead after two. Dark Horse would go down in order in top of the 3rd and not putting any runs across. Pitches Be Trippin scored two runs in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI single by Paulie Ciampoli and an error to take a 5-4 lead after the 3rd. Dark Horse would regain the lead in the top of the 4th after they scored 3 runs on an RBI single by Dave Ketterlinus and a two-run RBI triple by Paul Harding. Matt Horn would have another RBI hit this time a triple in the bottom of the 4th to make the score 7-6 Dark Horse after the 4th. Dark Horse got some runners on in the top of the 5th but could not score. In the bottom of the 5th, Paulie Ciampoli delivered again for Pitches Be Trippin hitting a two-run homer to give his team an 8-7 lead over Dark Horse after the 5th. This would prove to be the game winning hit as Dark Horse failed to score in the last two innings. Dark Horse’s offense struggled in the second half of the game as Pitches Be Trippin won a close one 8-7.

Game 3: Pitches Be Trippin vs Swingers

Pitches Be Trippin coming off a win in their first game, was looking to make it two in a row on the day as they face Swingers. Swingers would come to the plate first and score an early run off an RBI double by Brian Close. Pitches Be Trippin got off to a slow start laying a goose egg in the bottom of the 1st. Swingers laid a goose egg of their own in the top of the 2nd as they still held a one run lead. Pitches Be Trippin would tie the game in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI single by Dave McCaughey. Swingers continued to struggle at the plate in the top of the 3rd, failing to score for the second inning in a row. Pitches Be Trippin could not take the lead as they were also held scoreless in the bottom of the 3rd. Swingers would break the tie in the top of the 4th as they scored one run on an RBI sac fly by Alex Vitek to give them a 2-1 lead after the 4th. In the 5th, Swingers would go down in order after a lead off single by Matt Bachmann. Pitches Be Trippin would win the inning in the 5th scoring one run on an RBI double by Bobby Scholly to tie the score 2-2 after the 5th. The Swingers came alive in the top of the 6th scoring 5 runs on an RBI single by Brian Hoover, RBI sac fly by Nick McCloy, and an RBI double by Bachmann to go ahead. In the bottom of the 6th, Pitches Be Trippin would continue to struggle at the plate and failed to score putting them in a huge hole going into the last inning. The Swingers would add an insurance run in the top of the 7th on a solo homer by Matt Close to give them an 8-2 lead with one final at bat for Pitches Be Trippin. Pitches Be Trippin got something going in the bottom of the 7th after a two-run RBI double by Ant Perretti to cut the lead to 8-4. After another run scored on an error, Paul Abendroth drove in a run on an RBI single followed by an RBI single by Paulie Ciampoli to make the score 8-7 with runners at the corners, 2 outs and the tying run on 3rd. The Swingers got a flyout to end the threat and the game. Swingers hold off Pitches Be Trippin’s late comeback to win 8-7.

Game 4: Wire 2 Wire vs Backyard Bombers

Wire 2 Wire came ready to play, but unfortunately Backyard Bombers did not. Wire 2 Wire wins by forfeit 7-0.

Game 5: Purple Cobras vs One Hit Wonders

One Hit Wonders jumped out to an early lead scoring three runs on RBI singles by Andy Springer, Rob Gisondi and Bill Groff. Purple Cobras got one run back in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single by Steve Gardner to give One Hit Wonders a 3-1 lead after the 1st. One Hit Wonders continued their hot start on offense putting up seven runs in the top of 2nd on RBI singles by Dan Cripps, Jimmy Cooker, and Gisondi. Purple Cobras offense would not be able to keep pace with One Hit Wonders and did not score in the 2nd or 3rd inning as they trailed 10-1 after three. One Hit Wonders tacked on another run in the top of the 4th on an RBI single by Sean Strauss. Purple Cobras would put up three runs in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run RBI single by Tom Friedman and an RBI single by Bill Brancato, but still were down 11-4 after the 4th. One Hit Wonders kept adding in the top of the 5th scoring another five runs on an RBI sac fly by Cooker, RBI single by Strauss and a few walks. Purple Cobras only managed to score one run in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI sac fly by Andrew Coates to leave the score at 16-5 after the 5th. Purple Cobras shut down the One Hit Wonders’ offense in the top of the 6th and knew they needed a big inning on offense. They would answer and score 4 runs on a two-run RBI single by Bill Brancato and a couple sacrifices to make the score 16-9 after the 6th. Unfortunately, the time limit had been reached, ending the game. One Hit Wonders had a big hitting day as they defeat Purple Cobras 16-9.
