Questions regarding the use of illegal players has risen sharply. An illegal player is deemed such if he is a non-roster player playing under the name of a roster player. This is not a problem in most other leagues because games are played on only a few fields and the scorekeepers have a pretty good idea as to who is who. Sunday Men's games are played on 6 different fields with 6 different scorekeepers. This makes it much harder for scorekeepers to get to know all the ball players. As a result, the propensity for managers to use illegal players increases sharply.

Unfortunately, when players in question have been asked to show proof of ID, their claim is that they don't have it on them. Moving forward, each player will be responsible to prove their identity on the spot when questioned. Identity proof can be in the form of a driver's license or at the very least a cell phone or Facebook page-- something to prove they are who they say they are. If proof is denied, the player in question will be removed from the game, a batting out will be taken in his spot for the remainder of the game, and the team manager will be issued a 2-game suspension. Additionally, if a legal protest is lodged and the team with the questionable player that refused to show proof of ID wins the game, the win will be overturned.

It's sad that it has come to this. As league director it is not only my responsibility to ensure fair play, it is my obligation.
